RFP Home for the Sparta Area School District

The purpose of this site it to provide all vendors with information regarding products and services which are being considered for purchase in the 2005-2006 fiscal year.

The following outlined items are not intended to be a complete RFP's. They are basic specifications of desired products and services. 
 
   Telecommunications
The Sparta Area School District is interested in a month-to month local and long distance calling agreement.  The district currently has both dedicated lines and networked direct-dial lines.  The lines are needed for the general operation of the district, utility meters, and the fire and security systems.  The district is not currently using pin numbers for long distance, but will be utilizing pin numbers in the near future. The district is also interested in a cellular service plan. There are about 15 cellular phones in a pooled-minute plan.   All lines would be billed to Sparta Area School District, 506 N. Black River St.  Sparta, WI 54656


Internet Service- The Sparta Area School District is interested in the purchase of Internet service with the following stipulations:
  • Required- T1 Level Service
  • Required-24x7 Technical Support
  • Required-Service Level Agreement Stating Terms and conditions
  • Preferred-Content Filtering Service compatible with SonicWall
  • Possible 10MB bandwidth

Servers- The district is interested in the placement of Firewall services.

  • Hard Drive- Minimum 5 36GB, 15K RPM, 1" Ultra3 (Ultra 160) SCSI Hot Plug Hard Drive
  • Primary Controller:
    PERC3-DI, 128MB Battery Backed Cache, 2 Internal Ch- Embedded RAID ROMB128 - [ 340-3943 ]
  • Diskette Drive-1.44MB Diskette Drive
  • OPERATING SYSTEM-Windows 2003 Server/ Novell Linux

  • Network Adapter- Minimum 2 Intel Pro 100S NIC w/ or w/o IP SEC Encryption
  • CD ROM-24X IDE Internal CD ROM Drive
  • Hard Drive Backplane-5 Bay (2+3) Hot Plug SCSI Hard Drive Split Backplane
  • Documentation: All Preinstalled Software Media must be delivered to owner
  • Hard Drive Configuration-On-Board RAID 0, 1 to 5 drives connected to on-board RAID
  • Chassis Configuration- Rackmountable Configuration
  • Power Supplies-Redundant AC Power (2x500 Watt Power Supplies)


Backup Equipment for DHCP, EMAIL, DNS, AND WEB SERVERS - The Sparta Area School District is exploring its current backup and disaster recovery strategies. 
  • Required- Hardware to provide backup of data in excess of 100GB during a full back-up.
  • Required- Device must provide solution that does not require user intervention during full backup under normal operating conditions.
  • Required-Device must be attachable to current district equipment (SCSI-2, External, LVD)
  • Required-Backup software to allow backup of multiple servers running various operating systems (Novell, Windows NT), as well as workstations. 
  • Preferred- Veritas Backup Executive Enterprise Power Suite  for Netware Software
  • Preferred-Device which can utilize the current DLT IV media. SDLT may be a possible solution. 

 


Maintenance Agreements- The Sparta Area School District has a variety of infrastructure devices which are high reliability. The district has need for maintenance agreements on the following equipment:
  • Cisco Catalyst 6000 Series Routers (4)
  • Cisco Catalyst 3500XL Series Switches (7)
  • Various Nortel PBX's
